Highway History:
This was the only OK 69A until late 2002, when another OK 69A was
commissioned in the northeast corner of the state. Starting at the OK
10/Interstate 44 intersection, the highway goes north to U.S. 69, heads east
with U.S. 69 for a short time, and then follows the old Alternate U.S. 69 to
Kansas. The highway is still signed as Alternate U.S. 69 in the Sunflower State.
Highway Review:
OK 69A is the main east-west route from U.S. 69 to the
Mid-America Industrial Park north of Chouteau. It is 5 lanes (2
EB, 2 WB, 1 center turn lane) for most of its length with a 55
mph speed limit. The highway ends when the road enters Sportsman
Acres.

is noticeable immediately as the

becomes
rougher and the speed limit falls to 45. (Photo
